Dentro del cine, varios géneros cinematográficos han decidido llevar a la gran pantalla la enfermedad del Alzheimer, mostrando este duro proceso dentro de la vida de enfermo y de la gente que lo acompaña en el transcurso de su evolución.

El hijo de la novia
Rafael dedica 24 horas al día a su restaurante, está divorciado, ve muy poco a su hija, no tiene amigos y elude comprometerse con su novia. Además, desde hace mucho tiempo no visita a su madre, internada en un geriátrico porque sufre el mal de Alzheimer. Una serie de acontecimientos inesperados le obligan a replantearse su vida. Entre ellos, la intención que tiene su padre de cumplir el viejo sueño de su madre: casarse por la Iglesia.
Son of the Bride
At age 42, Rafael Belvedere is having a crisis. He lives in the shadow of his father, he feels guilty about rarely visiting his aging mother, his ex-wife says he doesn't spend enough time with their daughter and he has yet to make a commitment to his girlfriend. Largometraje de animación 2D para adultos, basado en el cómic homónimo de Paco Roca (Premio Nacional de Cómic 2008). Emilio y Miguel, dos ancianos recluidos en un geriátrico se hacen amigos. Emilio, que padece un principio de Alzheimer, cuenta inmediatamente con la ayuda de Miguel y otros compañeros que tratarán de evitar que vaya a parar a la planta de los desahuciados. Su disparatado plan tiñe de humor y ternura el tedioso día a día de la residencia, pues para ellos acaba de empezar una nueva vida.
Wrinkles
Based on Paco Roca's comic of the same title (2008 Spanish National Comic Prize), WRINKLES is a 2D animated feature-length film for an adult audience. Wrinkles portrays the friendship between Emilio and Miguel, two aged gentlemen shut away in a care home. Recent arrival Emilio, in the early stages of Alzheimer, is helped by Miguel and colleagues to avoid ending up on the feared top floor of the care home, also known as the lost causes or "assisted" floor. Their wild plan infuses their otherwise tedious day-to-day with humor and tenderness, because although for some their lives are coming to an end, for them it is just a new beginning.

Iris
Iris, based on the life of revered British writer and philosopher Iris Murdoch, is a story of unlikely yet enduring love. As a young academic, teaching philosophy at Oxford, Murdoch meets and eventually falls in love with fellow professor John Bayley, a man whose awkwardness seems in stark opposition to the spirited self-confidence of his future wife. The story unfolds as snippets of time, seen through Bayley's eyes. He recalls their first encounter over 40 years ago, activities they enjoyed doing together, and Iris' charismatic and individualistic personality. These images portray Murdoch as a vibrant young woman with great intellect and are contrasted with the novelist's later life, after the effects of Alzheimer's disease have ravaged her. Murdoch's great mind deteriorates until she is reduced to a mere vestige of her former self, unable to perform simple tasks and completely reliant on her at times frustrated yet devoted husband.

Fiona y Grant son un viejo matrimonio que, después de haber superado juntos momentos muy difíciles, disfrutan de una vida cómoda y tranquila. Away from her
Grant and Fiona Anderson have been married for forty-four years. Their marriage has been a generally happy and loving one although not perfect due to some indiscretions when Grant was working as a college professor. Fiona has just been admitted to Meadowlake, a long term care facility near their country home in southwestern Ontario, because her recent lapses of memory have been diagnosed as a probable case of Alzheimer's disease. She and Grant made this decision together, although a still lucid Fiona seems to have made peace with the decision and her diagnosis more so than Grant. With respect to the facility, what Grant has the most difficulty with are what he sees as the sadness associated with the facility's second floor - where the more advanced cases are housed - but most specifically the facility's policy of no visitors within the first thirty days of admission to allow the patient to adjust more easily to their new life there.
